A Century of Regional Art in the Dialogue of Times

The anniversary exhibition at the Art and Crafts Association Regensburg takes visitors through 100 years of annual showcases, connecting art historical retrospectives with vibrant present-day art. From September 19 to October 25, 2026, works from a century of regional art and exhibition history will be presented.

100 Years, 100 Images, 100 Stories

Since 1926, the annual showcase has been open to artists and artisans connected to Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate. The curated special exhibition makes this continuity tangible as a visual journey through time. Works by Lina Ammer from 1926 enter into a new dialogue with pieces from the more recent present.

The Special Exhibition 30 under 40

Another focus is dedicated to the awarded works of the U40 Art Award. This special exhibition brings together 30 exceptional positions from the annual showcases since 1996, showing how painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and craft forms have developed within the regional art scene.

Art History as Personal Encounter

The exhibition is not intended as a seamless chronicle but as a multifaceted examination of works. Personal texts with memories, questions, doubts, and declarations of love accompany the selected works. This creates an exhibition atmosphere where art history is not kept at a distance but becomes an immediate aesthetic experience.

Curating and Cultural Education

The exhibition concept and accompanying publication were developed in close cooperation with the Chair of Art History at the University of Regensburg and Prof. Dr. Christoph Wagner. Art dialogues and public tours provide additional perspectives on the works and invite deeper engagement with regional art, exhibition culture, and cultural identity.

Supporting Program

The program includes art dialogues on September 20 and October 4, a gallery evening on September 26, tours on September 27 and October 18, as well as a closing event with a signing session on October 25 from 3 to 5 PM.

Conclusion: An Art Experience between Memory and Present

The anniversary exhibition offers a concentrated encounter with a century of regional art. Visitors experience historical breaks, artistic developments, and current positions in immediate spatial proximity. Anyone wanting to understand Regensburg's art scene and enjoy the aesthetic experience of a multifaceted curated exhibition should visit this special showcase live.
