Monsta (4+): Brave chills and shared wonder in Regensburg

When something suddenly rustles under the bed, an imaginative family experience begins at the Young Theater Regensburg: Monsta invites children from four years old to playfully discover scary feelings, curiosity, and courage. The approximately 45-minute puppet theater performance combines child-friendly suspense with a lot of humor and shared time for the whole family.

On the trail of monsters

In the adaptation of the children's book of the same name by Dita Zipfel, two monsterologists embark on an unusual research journey. They search for rare monsters, observe mysterious tracks, and try to lure the eerie creatures with masks, puppetry, and monster gymnastics.

Shadow plays, fright experiments, and imaginative play scenes bring the stage to life. The boundaries between researchers and monsters blur: Who is actually observing whom?

Child-friendly learning fun about fear and courage

Monsta addresses a feeling that many children know: the fear of the unknown. The story takes these feelings seriously without overwhelming children. Surprises, language, characters, and play ideas create an age-appropriate learning experience where children can develop their own thoughts and talk about courageous moments.

The puppet theater strengthens imagination, empathy, and expressiveness. Families experience how theater conveys big themes in a child-friendly manner while connecting joy, wonder, and children's laughter. Upon request, the Young Theater offers follow-up discussions.

45 minutes full of imagination

The performance lasts about 45 minutes and takes place without an intermission. The compact format suits younger children well and allows for a focused theater visit without long interruptions. The production was created in collaboration with the State Theater Württemberg-Hohenzollern Tübingen Reutlingen and celebrated its Regensburg premiere.

The Young Theater is a suitable place for a first or next family visit to the theater. The performance takes place in a protected indoor space. For travel by public transport, the RVV stops at Bismarckplatz and nearby at Arnulfsplatz.

Conclusion: An imaginative family experience with a courage-inspiring factor

Monsta awaits families with puppetry, shadow play, humorous monster research, and a child-friendly engagement with fear and courage. Those who want to marvel, laugh, and discover the world of monsters together will experience a special theater afternoon in Regensburg on October 10, 2026.
