Diversity of Jewish and Israeli Voices at the EmmeramForum

The Middle East conflict stirs emotions, polarizes, and shapes societal debates far beyond Israel and the Palestinian territories. On Monday, October 19, 2026, the event at the Regensburg EmmeramForum invites attendees to gain a nuanced internal perspective on Jewish and Israeli opinions.

An Evening for Nuanced Perspectives

The focus will be on the varying reactions of Jews in the diaspora as well as Israelis to the current situation. Topics will include Jewish values, historical experiences, political tensions, and the question of what paths may lead out of a seemingly intractable conflict.

Rabbi Dr. Edward van Voolen as Speaker

The lecture will be given by Rabbi Dr. Edward van Voolen. The art historian, historian, and rabbi served as curator of the Jewish Museum in Amsterdam from 1978 to 2013 and was responsible for the practical rabbinical training at the Abraham Geiger College in Potsdam from 2002 to 2023. Since 2026, he has been co-chairman of the Jewish-Christian conversation group at the Central Committee of German Catholics.

Discussion, Context, and Audience Sentiment

The event combines professional context with personal discussion. The impact of the conflict on the social climate in Germany will also be addressed: increasing antisemitism, anti-Muslim racism, and the prevalent equation of Jewish people with the politics of the Israeli government.

The event management of the organizers focuses on an educational and discussion event that combines target audience engagement, historical expertise, and open discussion. In the calm atmosphere of the EmmeramForum, space is created for questions, reflection, and respectful exchange.

Conclusion: An Invitation to Listen and Reflect

Visitors can expect an informative evening with historical context, personal perspectives, and the opportunity for discussion. Those who wish to view the Middle East conflict beyond simplifying headlines will experience an event with societal relevance at the EmmeramForum. Participation is free, but registration is required.
