The Wizard of Oos: A Magical Journey to the Land of Wishes
When the curtain rises at the Akademietheater Regensburg on October 10, 2026, an adventurous journey full of friendship, courage, and imagination begins for children aged six and above. The play based on Lyman Frank Baum takes the audience into the mysterious land of Oos and combines colorful stage art with a touching story about the power of shared dreams.
A Path Through a Land Full of Wonders
Dorothee unexpectedly lands in Oos and longs for her home. Her journey takes her to the Emerald City, where the mysterious Wizard of Oos is supposed to help her. Along the way, she meets three unusual companions: a scarecrow who desires intelligence, a tin man who yearns for a heart, and a timid lion who wants to become braver.
Friendship as a Dramatic Force
The production places the shared journey at the center of its drama. Each stop brings the characters to a new boundary, and each danger sharpens their view of each other. From individual wishes, an ensemble emerges, whose strength lies precisely in mutual support. Thus, the fantastic adventure becomes a sensory stage experience about solidarity, self-confidence, and the courage to keep going.
Atmosphere Between Fairy Tale and Acting Art
The Akademietheater in the old Malsaal creates an immediate theater space, where the proximity to the stage event stimulates the imagination. The narrative opens up space for dynamic scenes, fairytale images, and lively acting. Lighting, acoustics, and the transformation of the characters create a world where behind every meeting a new possibility appears.
A Theater Experience for the Whole Family
The story is aimed at children aged six and above and also addresses adult companions. For Dorothee's journey tells in clear images and humorous characters about big questions: What does courage mean? Where does intelligence come from? What makes a heart? The audience reaction arises from the interplay of tension, comedy, and touching moments.
The Akademietheater Regensburg, which provides a practice-oriented education in acting, directing, and theater pedagogy under the umbrella of the Academy for Performing Arts Bavaria, combines educational accessibility with professional stage art in this production.
Conclusion: A Departure into a World of Fantasy
The Wizard of Oos promises a colorful stage experience for young theatergoers and their families. Dorothee's journey through Oos makes visible how friendship transforms fears and collective action conquers the seemingly impossible. Those who wish to experience the magic of live theater will find a charming venue for this fairytale afternoon at the Akademietheater Regensburg.
