Magical Journey to the Land of Oos: A Magical Stage Experience for the Whole Family
When Dorothy suddenly lands in the mysterious Land of Oos, an adventurous journey full of fantasy, friendship, and courage begins at the Akademietheater Regensburg. The production based on Lyman Frank Baum takes young and adult audiences on the way to the Emerald City – where a powerful wizard is supposed to fulfill the great wishes of people.
A Story about Wishes, Courage, and Solidarity
On her quest, Dorothy encounters three unusual companions: a scarecrow who wishes for intelligence, a tin man longing for a heart, and a timid lion who wants to be brave. Together, they face dangers and tasks that initially seem unsolvable.
The dramaturgy combines fairy-tale adventures with a warm message about the power of friendship. Each stage adventure leads to a new emotional station: from uncertainty grows confidence, from loneliness comes community, and from the desire for change develops inner strength.
Production at the Akademietheater
Director Oliver Severin shapes the production as a colorful children's and youth theater. Set design and drawings are by Martina Topp, with makeup and stage construction by Sabine Hierl, Reinhold Bauer, and Helmut Schreier. Music and musical direction are by Julian Wejwar.
The stage design, costumes, makeup, and musical elements create a theater atmosphere where the audience can immediately immerse themselves in the fantasy world of Oos. The acting skills of the ensemble combine fairy-tale exaggeration with comedic moments and clear emotions.
A Play for Children from Six Years Old
The Wizard of Oos is aimed at children from six years old and is suitable as a shared stage experience for families. The performance lasts about 90 minutes including a break. This creates a concentrated theater afternoon that takes young viewers seriously while also allowing space for wonder, laughter, and personal thoughts.
