A Magical Stage Experience in the Land of Oos

When Dorothy unexpectedly lands in the mysterious Land of Oos, a colorful journey full of friendship, courage, and great wishes begins at the Academy Theater Regensburg. The adaptation based on Lyman Frank Baum takes young viewers from the age of six into a world where every companion longs for something and even seemingly impossible tasks become solvable.

A Journey to the Emerald City

Dorothy wants to return home and therefore sets off to find the powerful Wizard of Oos. Along the way, she meets a scarecrow who wishes for intelligence, a tinman searching for a heart, and a fearful lion who wants to become braver. Together, the unusual ensemble defies the dangers of the journey.

Dramaturgy Between Fantasy and Courage

The stage adaptation combines fairytale adventures with themes that touch the heart: longing, solidarity, and the power to keep going. Directed by Oliver Severin, the young audience is guided through a clear, vibrant dramaturgy, while the set design and illustrations by Martina Topp visually shape the fantastic world of Oos.

Music, Makeup, and Acting Art

Music and musical direction are by Julian Wejwar, who, along with Lio Spiecker, also creates the witch's song. Makeup, set construction, and technical direction intensify the theatrical atmosphere into a sensory family experience. Costumes, lighting, acoustics, and the changing characters continually create new images between adventure path, Emerald City, and fairytale transformation.

The performance is aimed at children aged six and above and lasts about 90 minutes including a break. On stage are Niobe Albers, Anna Bilous, Julian Bohm, Leonardo Cerpelloni, Adam El Saidi, Jakob Krüger, Malte Moll, Toni Nitsch, Stephanie Parfenov, Lio Spiecker, and Nina Zielinski in changing casts.
