Old Malting Regensburg | Program & Concerts

The Old Malting Regensburg at Galgenbergstraße 20 is much more than a single stage or a classic event space. The house combines cultural center, venue, bar, beer garden, and production site under one roof and has been an important meeting point for the Regensburg cultural scene since the late 1980s. Today, concerts, parties, cabaret, theater, readings, and cultural encounters coexist, supported by a collaboration of the association, venue, and external organizers. Those who visit the Old Malting experience not an anonymous multipurpose hall, but a house with character, where historical substance and vibrant program diversity come together. The official pages quickly show why the location is used so diversely: Club, Underground, Cartoon, and Beer Garden each provide their own framework, from intense concert evenings to summer celebrations in the courtyard. Practical questions such as tickets, advance sales, accessibility, and directions are clearly regulated, making the visit easy to plan. At the same time, the Old Malting is a place to discover, as many contents thrive on changing formats, new artists, and the closeness between stage and audience. Program, Concerts, and Cultural Diversity

The program of the Old Malting is deliberately broad and not limited to a single genre. The official program page explicitly highlights the mix of concerts, parties, cabaret, and culture, and this openness shapes the character of the house. This is particularly relevant for seekers, as the Old Malting Regensburg is perceived not only as a concert location but also as a place for readings, comedy, theater, and vibrant scene formats. The diversity arises from collaboration with several partners: the venue itself, the association Old Malting e. V., the cultural agency Alex Bolland, as well as independent organizers and cultural creators. In this way, the program remains dynamic and continuously evolves. The Old Malting is thus not only a place where events take place but also a house that actively shapes program culture. ([maelze-regensburg.de](https://www.maelze-regensburg.de/programm/))

Particularly strong is the role of the Old Malting as a stage for various scenes and age groups. The official background and press information describe a house that hosts around 150 live events annually, ranging from concerts of various styles to cabaret and theater to contemporary dance. Additional formats such as poetry slams, regional band promotion, festivals, and workshop series are included. This is important for visitors as it explains why the keyword spectrum around programs, concerts, and events is so strong. Those searching for the Old Malting often seek not just a place but also orientation in the program chaos of a vibrant cultural venue. Here, the house impresses with a clear, varied profile: locally rooted, open to new formats, and regularly home to regional acts and special series. Therefore, terms like program, concerts, events, culture, cabaret, and theater are particularly valuable from an SEO perspective. ([alte-maelzerei.de](https://www.alte-maelzerei.de/de/presse.php))

The programmatic history is also remarkable. The Old Malting became known early on as a place for cultural experiments and new formats. Official retrospectives include projects such as open-air events, neighborhood festivals, music series, and festival formats that have shaped the house over decades. This shows that the location is relevant not only for individual evenings but also acts as a culturally shaping center in Regensburg. This continuity makes the location equally interesting for artists, guests, and organizers: those who play or visit here move in an environment that has been working with new ideas and a broad understanding of culture for years. This also explains why so many users search for a current program. The Old Malting does not stand for a rigid repertoire but for a lively mix of well-known series, changing guests, and recurring formats that continually fill the house's calendar. Tickets, Advance Sales, and Opening Hours

Those wishing to attend an event at the Old Malting find the ticket options pleasantly clearly structured. The official note states that ticket sales are possible directly at the Old Malting during office hours. These office hours are from Monday to Friday between 10 AM and 3 PM. Additionally, the venue refers to online advance sales, allowing tickets to be flexibly prepared depending on the event. This is practical for visitors as it covers both spontaneous decisions and planned concert and event visits well. The ticket question is therefore a central component of user search behavior around the Old Malting Regensburg. The note on discounts is also particularly important: members of the Old Malting e. V. receive a price advantage, as do certain groups with identification. This not only strengthens the bond to the house but also emphasizes its non-profit and culturally oriented character. ([alte-maelzerei.de](https://www.alte-maelzerei.de/de/tickets.php))

The opening hours of the individual areas are also clearly stated and assist in planning visits. The bar or Cartoon is available for private events, the beer garden is open in summer during good weather from Tuesday to Sunday from 5 PM, and the Club and Underground can run until the early morning hours depending on the event. This is an important detail for anyone looking for opening hours or a suitable place for the evening. The Old Malting functions not only as a concert hall but as a house with different usage times and atmospheres. Those needing information during the day can adhere to the office hours; those attending an event in the evening experience the rooms in their respective event situation. This combination of office, advance sales, and gastronomy makes the location particularly attractive for seekers as it combines structure and flexibility. This is precisely why search terms like tickets, advance sales, and opening hours are so relevant for the Old Malting. ([maelze-regensburg.de](https://www.maelze-regensburg.de/))

The question of booking is also clearly answered on the website. The Old Malting offers several rooms that can be rented depending on the occasion and points out that inquiries can be made via form, email, or phone. This makes the house interesting not only for guests but also for organizers. Those planning a party, concert, or private event find a place with clear contacts and understandable conditions. This point is central for SEO-relevant search queries around tickets and rentals: it is not only about attending events but also about the fact that the house itself can be actively used and played. The Old Malting presents itself here as an open event venue that addresses both audiences and organizers with transparent information. ([maelze-regensburg.de](https://www.maelze-regensburg.de/maelze-mieten/))

Directions, Parking, and Accessibility

The Old Malting is located at Galgenbergstraße 20 in Regensburg and is well connected to the urban road network. The official directions explain access from both outside and the city center. Those coming via the Passau-Regensburg highway head towards the university, then down Galgenbergstraße and turn left at the corresponding intersection into Bischof-Konrad-Straße. Those coming from the city can reach it via the Galgenberg Bridge, past Cinemaxx, and straight up the hill along Furtmayrstraße. After about 200 meters, the building is on the right side. This clarity is important for visitors as it makes the journey planable without detours. It is also particularly relevant to note that there are parking options in the immediate vicinity, but no parking spaces in the courtyard of the Old Malting. This clearly answers the search topic of parking and describes it realistically. ([alte-maelzerei.de](https://www.alte-maelzerei.de/de/anfahrt.php))

The location is also accessible by public transport. The official page mentions bus lines 6 and 10 with the stop at Haydnstraße. This is a valuable hint for anyone wishing to travel without a car or relying on an uncomplicated return trip after evening events. For the SEO focus, this information is particularly useful as search queries around directions and parking are among the strongest local intentions. The Old Malting positions itself here as an urban venue that is easily accessible by both car and bus. The interplay of location, public transport, and parking information makes planning transparent and reduces uncertainties before the visit. ([alte-maelzerei.de](https://www.alte-maelzerei.de/de/anfahrt.php))

Another important point is accessibility. According to the official ticket page, the Club, Underground, and Theater are accessible via the entrance in the courtyard. For the Club, one should briefly inform the staff at the box office to have the door opened. Additionally, there is an elevator that leads to the Underground or the theater hall, and a barrier-free restroom on the first floor. This information is crucial for many visitors as it shows that the historical character of the house is combined with practical accessibility. Especially in a location with multiple levels, such a note is important as it makes the visit planable and inclusive. Therefore, those searching for accessible, entrance, or restroom find clear answers at the Old Malting instead of vague promises. ([alte-maelzerei.de](https://www.alte-maelzerei.de/de/tickets.php))

Rooms, Capacities, and Atmosphere

The Old Malting thrives on its different rooms, each bringing its own atmosphere and usage profile. The Club is the largest event space in the house and forms the heart of the venue. Officially described as 200 square meters, it offers about 200 seated places or up to 400 unseated. The stage is approximately 25 square meters, and the combination of historical building substance, relatively low ceiling, and compact stage form ensures that the audience and artists are very close to each other. This makes the space interesting for concerts, readings, cabaret, and parties. Additionally, the technical equipment makes the space usable for professional events. For search queries regarding seating plans, capacity, or best seats, this description is particularly relevant as it directly explains how the space is used and why it feels so intense. ([maelze-regensburg.de](https://www.maelze-regensburg.de/club/))

The Underground is the second major pillar of the venue and is described as a basement room with its own character. At 97 square meters, it is significantly smaller than the Club, but this makes it feel particularly direct and approachable. The official page describes the Underground as a place for alternative parties and concerts where rave, punk, or metal find their place. The technical equipment is extensive enough to support independent events, and here too, the closeness to the scene is evident. This is important for many visitors as they specifically seek a more intimate, harder, or experimental venue. The Underground is thus not just an additional room but a clearly defined profile within the house. This differentiation explains why the Old Malting is often associated with terms like Club, Underground, and Concerts among users. ([maelze-regensburg.de](https://www.maelze-regensburg.de/underground-2/))

The Cartoon, the bar of the house, is yet another type of room. It is used exclusively for private events and offers about 45 seats with approximately 98 square meters. Additionally, there is a sound system with Bluetooth, free Wi-Fi, and three permanently installed large-screen TVs available. This makes the room interesting for private celebrations, smaller gatherings, and organized meetings. The beer garden in the courtyard also has its own character: it features a natural stage and beach chairs and becomes a place for food, drinks, artist performances, and occasional barbecues in summer. This versatility is not only practical but also atmospherically strong, as it shows how a single house can serve multiple target groups simultaneously. Those searching for photos or impressions can find corresponding impressions on the room pages of the official websites that illustrate the different moods well. It quickly becomes clear that the Old Malting is not a uniform place but a small event world with multiple levels and styles. ([maelze-regensburg.de](https://www.maelze-regensburg.de/cartoon-3/))

History, Profile, and Rentals

The history of the Old Malting is closely linked to its current identity. According to official background information, the cultural center was opened in December 1993. At the same time, press materials indicate that the roots of the house date back to 1988 when the malting was founded as a pub with a cultural program. This shows a development from an early cultural meeting point to a fully developed cultural center with multiple floors, its own rooms, and a clear profile. Retrospectives describe that alongside the stages on the ground floor and in the basement, additional spaces for theater hall, recording studio, group rooms, rehearsal rooms for musicians, and studios have emerged. This explains why the Old Malting today is not only an event venue but also a production site and creative center. The history is therefore not just a background detail but a central part of the brand image. It explains why many users search for history, special features, and photos: the house has a genuine narrative depth. ([alte-maelzerei.de](https://alte-maelzerei.de/de/hintergrund.php))

The cultural development of the house is also remarkable. The official texts mention a long list of formats and focuses, including festivals, neighborhood festivals, young music series, dance days, discussion events, and support formats for regional scenes. Particularly noteworthy is the regular establishment of the Regensburg Dance Days, the home game series for young regional bands, and other special formats that have shaped the house over the years. In 2017, the Old Malting was awarded the APPLAUS, the venue program award from the federal government, which honors culturally outstanding live music programs. Such awards are important for the perception of the location as they underscore its character as a profiled, independent venue. The Old Malting is thus not just any event hall but a house with a programmatic signature and growing significance in urban cultural life. ([alte-maelzerei.de](https://alte-maelzerei.de/de/hintergrund.php))

For organizers, it is also interesting that the house itself can be rented. The official information outlines clear opportunities for own events, private celebrations, or public concerts with admission. There are contacts, contact options, and room-related notes, making it easy for a visit to also become a personal use. Particularly important is the separation of the rooms: the Club is suitable for larger formats, the Underground for more compact and often energetic evenings, the Cartoon for private gatherings, and the beer garden for summer events outdoors. This structure makes the Old Malting flexible and economically interesting without losing its cultural core. Therefore, those searching for rentals, room offerings, or event opportunities find a place that is easily accessible for both visitors and planners. This is a key part of the success of the Old Malting: the house is a stage, meeting point, production site, and rentable location at the same time. I played here with my band during the event known as Dungeon Fire. It was an honor to be here, spend time with the lovely people that visited and made that night unforgettable for me and my bandmates. It felt like a dream come true. Let us hope it won't be the last time! Regensburg is awesome and die Alte Mälzerei is a blessing for the community. Stay cool, people!

Sauna With a Soundtrack! Alte Mälzerei is the kind of place that asks, "How many people can we legally fit into a toaster oven?" and then immediately ignores the answer. It was so hot inside I’m pretty sure I lost 3 kg just standing still. Small venue? More like cozy if your idea of cozy includes becoming intimately familiar with the sweat patterns of total strangers. That said, the crowd was alive, the vibes were strong, and the music made it feel like a very enthusiastic fever dream. If you like your concerts hot, tight, and slightly dehydrating, this is your place. Would I go back? Sure after installing an internal cooling system. 🧊🍺

If you are looking for a place that shows smaller, independent or alternative bands, plays, poetry slams or anything along those lines, the Alte Mälzerei is the place you want to visit first. As an old malthouse you can imagine the interesting and quirky architecture! Gigs can be held inside and outside depending on the time of year and weather and they have all kind of drinks there for a reasonable price! I highly recommend looking up what kind of events are upcoming if you happen to be in the area, as it will most definitely be amazing! There is also a small pub adjoint to the Mälzerei (Cartoon) if you want to have a more relaxed evening :)
