Parish Church of the Sacred Heart - Office | Events & Tickets
The Parish Church of the Sacred Heart - Office in Regensburg is much more than just an administrative address. Those who visit the parish office at Judenstein 8 encounter a place where pastoral care, community life, church music, and the unique history of a Regensburg city quarter come together. The parish of Herz Jesu describes itself as a community in the inner west of the city; the parish office is the first point of contact for conversations, organizational questions, and the connection to the vibrant parish community. At the same time, the Herz-Jesu Church is known as a place of worship and culture, where solemn liturgy, architecture, and concert life overlap in remarkable ways. The location itself is also historically interesting: Judenstein 8 is documented as a gable-side house from the 17th century with possibly older core, which further shapes the character of the quarter. For visitors, this means: Here, modern church infrastructure meets a historically grown environment that offers a special atmosphere for both quiet visits and events. Events, Tickets, and Parish Hall in Herz Jesu Regensburg
Those looking for events and tickets will find Herz Jesu Regensburg to be a place with real variety. The parish not only uses the parish church for services but also the parish hall for cultural and community formats. One example was a Ukrainian classical evening in the parish hall with a concert, buffet, and exhibitions; another example was the St. Matthew Passion in the Herz-Jesu Church, where tickets were available through the tourist information in the Old Town Hall, via okticket.de, and at the box office. For the Christmas Oratorio of the Choral Philharmonic Regensburg, online pre-sale, ticket outlets, and the tourist information were also mentioned. This shows: Herz Jesu is a place where musical events are organized professionally, even if it is not a classic ticket location in the sense of an arena. This distinction is particularly important for users searching for events and tickets: The parish itself does not sell tickets permanently like a theater, but it is regularly used as a venue for choral concerts, sacred music, and benefit evenings. The parish hall complements this profile with smaller formats where community life and culture intertwine. Therefore, those looking for dates should keep an eye on the current announcements, especially the parish newsletter and concert announcements from the diocese. There, the most reliable information on new program points, entry regulations, and pre-sale options can be found. ([bistum-regensburg.de](https://bistum-regensburg.de/news/klassische-zeitgenoessische-musik-und-eine-kunstausstellung-in-der-regensburger-pfarrei-herz-jesu?utm_source=openai))
What is particularly exciting is that events at Herz Jesu do not only take place sporadically but can be very different in content. The parish hall has already been used for a concert featuring classical and contemporary music as well as an art exhibition, while the church itself serves as an impressive venue for large sacred works such as Bach's passions or the Christmas Oratorio. The atmosphere ranges from chamber music and dialogue to large choral and orchestral projects. Additionally, the parish lists numerous groups and activities on its official website, including youth groups, altar servers, Kolping family, and women's association, which makes additional internal dates and community events plausible and understandable. For visitors, this is important because Herz Jesu cannot be reduced to a single function: It is an office, a place of pastoral care, a parish community, an event space, and a cultural address at the same time. Especially in the Regensburg context, where many churches are used not only liturgically but also culturally, Herz Jesu is a good example of how church spaces can remain open, flexible, and at the same time strong in identity. Therefore, those looking for tickets here will find not only a place to buy but also a place where spiritual content and public cultural offerings meaningfully meet. ([bistum-regensburg.de](https://bistum-regensburg.de/news/klassische-zeitgenoessische-musik-und-eine-kunstausstellung-in-der-regensburger-pfarrei-herz-jesu?utm_source=openai))
Parish Office, Contact, and Opening Hours of the Herz Jesu Parish
The parish office of the Parish Church of the Sacred Heart is the central contact point for the community. The official address is Kath. Pfarramt Herz Jesu, Am Judenstein 8, 93047 Regensburg. The parish can be reached by phone at 0941 29 86 94 0, the fax number is 0941 29 86 94 9, and the email is herz-jesu.regensburg@bistum-regensburg.de. Particularly practical for visitors are the published opening hours: On Mondays and Tuesdays, the parish secretary Monika Buchinger is available from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the parish office, Wednesdays also from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM, and Thursdays from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Andrea Meister is on site. This information makes the journey and initial contact easy, especially for people who are interested not only in services but also in baptisms, weddings, sacramental preparation, or general community questions. The official website also emphasizes the pastoral character of the parish and refers to Pastor Jürgen Lehnen as the contact person. This creates an image of a community that is clearly organized and at the same time personally approachable. For inquiries regarding contact and the parish office, this combination is crucial because it not only provides the address but also the real contact person and reliable times on site. ([herzjesuregensburg.de](https://herzjesuregensburg.de/kontakt/))
The location itself also supports orientation. The parish office is not located in an anonymous office complex but in a historic building at Judenstein, in the midst of a grown old town environment. The city of Regensburg lists Am Judenstein 8 as a monument with a gable-side house from the 17th century, likely with a core from the 14th century. This historical embedding gives the visit a special framework that clearly distinguishes it from a purely functional administrative address. For many people, this is exactly what makes it appealing: One comes for an appointment but often stays a moment longer because of the atmosphere of the place. The location in the inner west of Regensburg is also urbanistically interesting because it places the parish in immediate proximity to the old town. Therefore, those who go to the parish office not only experience a church institution but also a piece of Regensburg's urban history. This is relevant for SEO because searchers with terms like parish office, contact, or Regensburg often expect exactly this mix of practical accessibility and authentic local reference. Herz Jesu clearly meets this requirement. ([regensburg.de](https://www.regensburg.de/welterbe/welterbe-regensburg/1000-denkmaeler/51845/am-judenstein-8.html))
Directions and Parking in Regensburg's Old Town
The location of the Parish Church of the Sacred Heart - Office in Regensburg's city center is both an advantage and a challenge. On the one hand, the address Am Judenstein 8 is well situated in the urban fabric and therefore generally easy to find; on the other hand, there is a dense traffic and parking concept for the old town. The city of Regensburg designates the Dachauplatz parking garage and the Arnulfsplatz underground garage as official parking options for visitors. Both are close to the old town and are typical points of contact when one has an appointment in the city center. Additionally, the city refers to the free old town bus line EMIL, which makes visiting the city center easier. It is also important for drivers that Regensburg's old town is in the environmental zone and may only be accessed with a green particulate matter sticker. These points are particularly valuable for the SEO focuses of directions and parking because they provide concrete and reliable orientation. Therefore, anyone wishing to visit Herz Jesu should not only know the address but also plan the parking strategy in advance. Especially on concert evenings or on heavily frequented days, it can be wise to arrive early or plan alternative routes using public transport and walking. ([regensburg.de](https://www.regensburg.de/leben/verkehr-u-mobilitaet/parken/parkhaus-dachauplatz?utm_source=openai))
For visitors with an appointment at the parish office, attending a service, or holding a concert ticket, the city center location is still very attractive because many routes are walkable. The proximity to old town squares, small alleys, and cultural institutions makes the visit manageable and pleasant at the same time. From a practical usage perspective, it is wise to save parking garages like Dachauplatz or Arnulfsplatz as orientation points and plan a short walk from there. This is particularly relevant when visiting the parish for the first time or attending an evening concert where the time windows are tighter. The advantage of a city center location is also evident in that one can combine the church or parish office visit with a stroll through the old town. Herz Jesu benefits here from Regensburg's topography: The paths are compact, many destinations are close together, and at the same time, the quarter remains historically shaped. This is exactly why the combination of directions, parking, and walking is so important. Those who arrive well-prepared experience the parish not as a traffic hurdle but as a charmingly embedded part of the city. ([regensburg.de](https://www.regensburg.de/leben/verkehr-u-mobilitaet/parken/parkhaus-dachauplatz?utm_source=openai))
Parish Church, History, and Architecture of Herz Jesu
The history of the Herz-Jesu parish officially begins with the re-establishment of the parish in 1921. Soon after, planning for a new church building began, and the central question of the time was about style. The parish explicitly refers to the Liturgical Movement, which aimed for a renewal of liturgy and church architecture from its origins. It is precisely from this spiritual attitude that the Herz-Jesu Church in Regensburg was designed. The official description speaks of a clear spirit of early Gothic, thus a consciously historically inspired form language that is not meant to appear nostalgic but expresses liturgical clarity and spiritual concentration. This fits with the characterization as a three-nave basilica with a calm, almost strict spatial impression, with a flat wooden ceiling in the main nave, low pointed arch arcades to the side naves, and a strong pull forward to the high altar. These elements make Herz Jesu architecturally particularly interesting because they stage the space not merely decoratively but theologically and atmospherically. Visitors experience a church space that does not rely on spectacle but on direction, order, and concentration. This is also the reason why the high altar plays such a central role in the official description. ([herzjesuregensburg.de](https://herzjesuregensburg.de/pfarrkirche-herz-jesu/))
The location itself complements this architecture with a historical framework. At Judenstein 8, a gable-side house from the 17th century with a possibly older core is documented according to the city of Regensburg. This gives the parish a very concrete place in the city's history, which further enhances its current use as a parish office. It is also interesting that the parish lists not only the parish church but also St. Leonhard as a second church in the parish area on its website, which underscores the grown structure of the community. In the perception of many visitors, Herz Jesu is thus not just a church building but an ensemble of place, history, pastoral care, and liturgy. The connection of liturgical movement, early Gothic charm, and sober basilica architecture is unusually pronounced for Regensburg. It explains why the church is chosen not only for services but also for concerts and cultural formats: The space carries sound, concentration, and symbolic presence in a way that supports great music. This makes it understandable why Herz Jesu appears in public perception as both a parish church, a cultural venue, and an architectural statement. For those interested in architecture and history, this conscious connection of form and function is the actual appeal of the place. ([herzjesuregensburg.de](https://herzjesuregensburg.de/pfarrkirche-herz-jesu/))
Community Life, Services, and Special Atmosphere
Herz Jesu Regensburg thrives not only on buildings and dates but on an active community. The official website lists a number of groups and offerings, including altar servers, Kolping family, Catholic German Women's Association, family mass team, youth group, 60 Plus, and gymnastics group. This diversity shows that the parish is a social and spiritual meeting point for different age groups. For seekers looking for services, community life, or parish newsletters, this is particularly important because Herz Jesu thus provides continuity in daily life that goes beyond individual Sunday masses. The website also refers to the pastor, the parish secretaries, and other responsible members of the parish team. This makes the community approachable and concrete. Therefore, those making contact for the first time receive not only formal information but also encounter a clearly recognizable structure with personal faces. The work of the altar servers is also well visible, as the group meets regularly in the tower of the parish church. This mix of liturgical, musical, and social activity is central to the perception of the parish. It ensures that Herz Jesu is not perceived as an isolated church but as a vibrant community system. ([herzjesuregensburg.de](https://herzjesuregensburg.de/))
Additionally, there is a special atmosphere that arises from the connection of space, music, and public use. The official church description already directs attention to the high altar and the clearly structured space, while concert announcements from the diocese show that large spiritual works with choir, orchestra, and soloists are performed there. The parish hall expands this spectrum with smaller cultural formats and meeting spaces, such as classical evenings, exhibitions, or international encounter events. This makes it clear why search terms like events, tickets, parish hall, and concert are so relevant for this location. Herz Jesu does not offer an anonymous event operation but a place where culture, faith, and community intertwine. This is also emotionally significant: The church does not act like a backdrop but like a resonance space for music and community. Those who attend a service here, listen to a concert, or stop by the parish office experience Regensburg from a quieter and yet very rich side. This connection of pastoral care, community life, and cultural openness makes the location interesting for many people and equally relevant for search engines.
One of Regensburg's most modern "pre-Vatican II" churches, wonderfully preserved in the monumental style typical of the time, with a huge high altar designed by a member of the T&T architectural firm. For a modern church, it's actually quite pleasing. Unfortunately, it also has a people's altar. Edit – Reply to reply: "Celebration of the breaking of bread with the congregation"? The 1970s seem to be alive and well here. Especially since the Mass isn't about sharing bread, but rather the unbloody renewal of Christ's sacrifice on the cross – and for that, I find the high altar of this church very well suited, also with regard to its iconography and its artistic centering of the church space. The people's altar in this church, on the other hand, is visually and architecturally incongruous (regardless of the theological shortcomings of the "people's altar" concept, which neither Vatican II, GORM, nor AEM require anywhere), because it doesn't belong to the original furnishings and consequently disrupts the overall art-historical ensemble. Here too, where everything from the original furnishings could actually be preserved as a coherent Gesamtkunstwerk from the time the church was built, I am very much in favor of art historical purism, and therefore against such unnecessary modern additions.
