Neighborhood Library South | Opening Hours & Reviews

The Neighborhood Library South in Regensburg is not an anonymous lending place, but a modern family library located in the BiC Education Center in the KÖWE shopping center. Those looking for a quiet, well-organized place to browse, learn, read, or borrow will find a compact offering of 25,000 media for children, teenagers, and adults. On-site, there are books, CDs, DVDs, console and board games, as well as magazines; additionally, a cozy gaming corner is part of the branch's profile. The facility is bundled together with the adult education center, learning point, and media center of the city of Regensburg at one location, making the library particularly practical for families, students, learners, and leisure readers. This mix of everyday utility and friendly atmosphere ensures that the Neighborhood Library South regularly attracts interest in searches for photos, reviews, and opening hours. Opening Hours and Return Box of the Neighborhood Library South

The structure of the opening hours of the Neighborhood Library South is clear and practical: on Mondays, the branch is closed, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays it is open from 12:00 to 18:00, on Thursdays from 12:00 to 17:00, and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 14:00. Those preparing for a visit can plan very well whether a quick stop after school or work is possible or if an extended family visit on Saturday is advisable. The afternoon hours are particularly ideal for many people because they fit well with the everyday lives of families, working individuals, and students. The city also points out that there may be unscheduled closures at the South branch during high temperatures. Therefore, it's worth taking a quick look at the current notices from the library before heading out, especially in the summer months or during weather changes. The library is also well prepared for returns: The media return box of the Neighborhood Library South is accessible from Monday to Saturday between 6:00 and 21:00, but not on Sundays. This is practical for anyone who wants to return media outside of regular opening hours and wants to quickly integrate the trip into their daily routine. It is also particularly pleasant that the official site presents the opening hours centrally and transparently, so that searches for Neighborhood Library South opening hours receive a reliable answer directly. Therefore, those who want to combine their visit with borrowing, returning, or a quick media stop will find very clear conditions and a straightforward process here. Media, Gaming, and the Offer for Families

The heart of the Neighborhood Library South is its family-friendly media offering. With around 25,000 media, the branch consciously targets children, teenagers, and adults, thus remaining more than just a classic neighborhood library. The selection ranges from books to CDs and DVDs to console and board games as well as magazines. This appeals to both people who want to read purposefully and families who want to spend leisure time together or borrow something for school, study, and everyday life. Particularly noticeable is the connection between analog and playful use: The official website explicitly mentions a cozy gaming corner, which makes the atmosphere more relaxed and strengthens the library's role as a meeting point in the neighborhood. This is complemented by an integrated media center that has evolved from the former city image office and provides media for schools, clubs, and other educational institutions. As a result, the Neighborhood Library South becomes a place where not only entertainment but also education and media literacy come together. For parents, the offering is attractive because children's books, games, and magazines are available in one place, allowing different needs to be met without much effort. For teenagers, the mix of books, games, and digitally connected topics is a real advantage. The official imagery of the website also conveys this character: one sees shelves with non-fiction books, seating areas for lingering, and scenes that do not appear strict or distant, but rather open and inviting. Together, this creates a profile that fits very well in searches for Neighborhood Library South photos, reviews, and family library because the facility meets these expectations exactly. Digital Offers: E-Books, Newspapers, Music, and Streaming

The City Library Regensburg does not only think of the Neighborhood Library South as a place for printed media, but as part of a broad digital offering. Those with an active library card can access online services and thus use many contents regardless of location and opening hours. The offering via Overdrive in the Badico network is particularly strong: More than 35,000 media are available, a large part of which are e-books and audiobooks that can be comfortably used with the Libby app on a smartphone or tablet. In addition, there are digital magazines and newspapers via Munzinger Online, Pressreader, and Riffreporter. This means: Those who want to read the Süddeutsche Zeitung in the morning, access SPIEGEL, or dive into a large international magazine offering will find a quick entry here. For research and knowledge, there is also Brockhaus with encyclopedia, school lexicon, and online courses, as well as Munzinger as a platform for biographies, country information, and literature. In the area of music, the city library offers particularly interesting access with nkoda, NAXOS, and Classica: Sheet music, classical music, jazz, world music, operas, festivals, and ballet are digitally accessible. Film enthusiasts also get their money's worth with filmfriend, while children's and youth content can be easily filtered in the digital offerings. Particularly valuable is that the library not only lists platforms but also offers support. There is a monthly consultation hour for the digital library at Haidplatz, every second Friday of the month from 14:00 to 16:00, which can be used after prior appointment booking. This turns a large digital offering into a practical service. For searches regarding opening hours, reviews, and digital equipment, this is exactly a plus point because the Neighborhood Library South covers not only physical but also modern digital needs. Events at the Neighborhood Library South: Picture Book Theater, Crafts, and Readings

The Neighborhood Library South is not only a lending place but also a lively event space for the neighborhood. The official event entries show how broad the program is: In the picture book theater, the Kamishibai theater is used, which is a narrative form that directly engages children and conveys stories visually. This is complemented by creative crafting offers such as Halloween crafting for children aged four and older, handicraft afternoons for young and old, flea markets for media, as well as readings and exhibitions. This variety makes it clear that the library functions as a social meeting point and brings together different age groups. Particularly attractive is that many offers are free and often can be attended without prior registration. Where registration is necessary, it is transparently organized via email, allowing for spontaneous visits to remain possible. This is important in practice because families and individual visitors do not have to plan long in advance to participate. The event entries also show that the Neighborhood Library South addresses topics ranging from children's literature to seasons and crafts to crime readings and natural history exhibitions. This creates a program that does not feel artificial but is content-wise fitting for the neighborhood. Therefore, those searching for Neighborhood Library South photos or reviews not only discover shelves but also an active cultural and meeting place. Especially the picture book theater dates and crafting activities make the branch interesting for families, while readings and handicrafts also appeal to adults and seniors. This mix of low-threshold participatory formats and literary offerings gives the location its own identity. The library thus shows that a neighborhood library can be much more than a place to borrow: It becomes a place for exchange, small experiences, and regular encounters. Location in the BiC-KÖWE-Center, Access and Reachability

The address of the Neighborhood Library South is clear and easy to find: Dr.-Gessler-Straße 47 in 93051 Regensburg. The official site assigns the branch to the BiC Education Center in the KÖWE shopping center, making it immediately clear that it is a well-integrated location in the southern part of Regensburg. This is an advantage for visitors because several educational and service offerings are concentrated in one place: the adult education center, the learning point, and the media center of the city of Regensburg are also located there. This facilitates orientation, route usage, and everyday planning. Those coming by public transport benefit from RVV lines 4 and 10 to the Dr.-Gessler-Straße stop. This is a practical point for families, teenagers, or seniors because the visit does not necessarily depend on a car. The official contact details also make reachability easy: The city provides a phone number as well as a second extension and refers to the general service channels of the city library. It is also practical that the Neighborhood Library South is listed in the official documents together with the other neighborhood libraries and is thus integrated into the municipal library system. For users, this means: The branch is not an isolated special place but part of a larger supply structure with clear rules, consistent opening hours, and well-communicable routes. In SEO terms, this is important because searches like Neighborhood Library South Regensburg, opening hours, or access aim for immediate orientation. Even if the site does not provide a long historical narrative, the classification as a modern family library in the BiC is a clear indication of a contemporary concept with neighborhood proximity, educational focus, and good connection to everyday traffic. Photos, Reviews, and the Atmosphere on Site

Those searching for photos and reviews of the Neighborhood Library South receive a fairly clear impression. The official website shows pictures of bookshelves, comfortable seating areas, a Kamishibai bag, a media box with the theme of seasons, games on the shelf, and teenagers playing video games. This photo series already conveys that this is not a sterile lending station, but a lively, friendly, and versatile space. The reviews you provided fit very well with this. Several visitors praise the staff as friendly, competent, and helpful, especially in dealing with children. It is highlighted that new media are regularly available and everything appears to be very well organized. Other voices emphasize the cleanliness, the pleasant seating options, and the good selection for children. Another positive point is the digital diversity, which is apparently also perceived positively on-site. For a neighborhood library, this combination is crucial: a manageable, well-kept space that builds trust, offers orientation, and does not feel overloaded at the same time. That a user describes the library as somewhat small does not have to be a disadvantage, as smaller libraries can be very convincing with good structure, friendly service, and a clear selection. In this case, the concept seems to work: compact, clean, well-organized, and family-friendly. For people who want to inform themselves about photos and reviews before a visit, this creates a credible overall impression. The Neighborhood Library South appears to be a place where one would like to stay longer, where children are welcome, and where service is truly palpable. This makes it a strong address for searches for photos, reviews, and family-friendly library in Regensburg. ([regensburg.de](https://www.regensburg.de/stadtbuecherei/buechereien/sued))

The lady who issued my library card today was incredibly friendly and professional. Customer service was excellent (10/10). The library itself is a bit small, but the digital offerings, such as audiobooks, ebooks, newspapers, and classical music, all with free access, are fantastic. I'll be visiting the largest central library soon.

I think the library is great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The library itself is very clean and has plenty of comfortable seating. One of my favorite libraries. It also has a very good selection for children.

Hello, as a child (13 years old), can I get a library card at the library, or do I need a parent or guardian? Best regards
