Theater in the Antoniushaus | Events & Today

The Theater in the Antoniushaus is one of the most interesting cultural venues in Regensburg because it combines historical architecture, modern theater practice, and a surprisingly intimate atmosphere. Since February 2022, the Antoniushaus has served as the second major venue of the Theater Regensburg. The renovated hall with parquet and gallery accommodates up to 420 spectators and is only a few minutes away from the city center. Those looking for theater in the Antoniushaus Regensburg, Theater Antoniushaus today, or upcoming events at the Theater in the Antoniushaus usually want to find not only a date but also to understand in advance how the venue works, how to get there, and what experience awaits them. This overview is designed for that purpose: clear, current, practical, and with a focus on the features that distinguish this venue from others. These include its location in the Kasernenviertel, good RVV connections, free parking options within walking distance, a gastronomy with a beer garden, and a stage that is used for plays as well as matinees, premieres, and special formats. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/orte/index.html))

Upcoming Events and Current Program

Those looking for the current program should first understand the logic of the venue: The Antoniushaus is not a pure concert or guest performance venue, but a versatile performance space of the Theater Regensburg. Depending on the season, the program includes play premieres, matinees, public rehearsals, special events, and in some cases, tours or thematic series. Therefore, search terms like upcoming events, today, program, and tickets are particularly relevant for ongoing and upcoming planning. The official homepage of the venue displays current dates; for example, the matinee The Dirty Hands / The Just is listed at the Antoniushaus, and the premiere of the same double evening follows on 10.05.2026 in the premiere overview. This is typical for the venue: It not only serves as a stage for the actual evening but also as a place for theatrical preparation with introductions, discussions, and public rehearsals. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/))

Other productions also show how lively the usage is. In spring 2026, another production called Dollhouse ran at the Antoniushaus; there was a public rehearsal there on 21.03.2026, a matinee on 22.03.2026, and the premiere on 28.03.2026. Such dates are important for visitors because they demonstrate that the Antoniushaus is not only sporadically used but plays a fixed role in the seasonal planning. So, those looking for theater in the Antoniushaus today or theater in the Antoniushaus upcoming events find not just a single date but a whole dramaturgy of occasions: from the first approach to a piece to the premiere and subsequent performances. Additionally, the premiere overview shows that the Antoniushaus is used for theater productions like The Dirty Hands / The Just in the current season, while other genres take place at other locations in the house. This is an important signal for SEO analysis: The strongest search intentions revolve not only around the pure address but also around the program, schedule, and specific dates. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/produktionen/dollhouse.html?utm_source=openai))

For content depth, it is also worth looking at the formats. The Theater Regensburg explicitly points out that alongside regular performances, matinees, post-discussions, and public rehearsals take place. These formats particularly shape the Antoniushaus because it allows for an immediate theater experience with a relatively manageable capacity. The proximity between the stage and the audience makes the venue interesting for those who want to follow not just a performance but the creation and contextualization of a piece. Those searching for Antonius Theater or Theater in the Antoniushaus Regensburg are often looking for a place where program, encounters, and atmosphere are closely connected. The current repertoire of the venue suggests that the Antoniushaus is primarily used for theater, thematic double evenings, and complementary event forms. Therefore, it makes sense to pay attention not only to individual titles when searching for events but also to the type of event: premiere, matinee, public rehearsal, or regular performance. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/index/besuch.html))

Directions to the Theater in the Antoniushaus: Mühlweg, Bus, and Parking

The address of the venue is Mühlweg 13, 93053 Regensburg. The Antoniushaus is located in the Kasernenviertel at the edge of the city center, making it easily accessible for many visitors without being in the middle of the densest city logistics. This is important for public transport access, as the venue can be reached in several ways. The official visitor area mentions, among others, the stops Antoniuskirche with lines 3 and 18, Hermann-Geib-Straße and Safferlingstraße with lines 2, 9, X9, 23, 24, and 31, as well as Alfons-Auer-Straße with lines 3 and 7. According to official information, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes on foot from the main train station if you use the Arcaden exit. For visitors with bicycles, there are parking spaces on the right and left of the building. This combination of walking, bus, and bicycle makes the Antoniushaus particularly practical and is a clear advantage for all those looking for directions and parking. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/orte/index.html))

The location is also practical for parking, as the venue has specific nearby solutions. The two largest free parking lots are located at the Municipal Vocational School on Alfons-Auer-Straße, about 300 meters from the Antoniushaus. For many guests, this is the most convenient solution, especially if they are attending an evening performance or do not want to drive through the narrowest old town first. Those looking for a central parking option can consider the municipal underground garage at the theater. There, the city of Regensburg offers a theater flat rate of 7.00 euros for entry between 6 and 8 PM, valid until 1:00 AM the next day. This option is particularly interesting if a theater visit is combined with a stroll through the city center. For keyword planning, it is important that users may search not only for parking but also for directions, parking garage, theater garage, and walking distance. The Antoniushaus benefits from a favorable mix of free parking within walking distance and a well-documented city center underground garage as an alternative. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/orte/index.html))

Another practical aspect is the ticket logic in connection with arrival. The Theater Regensburg points out that the theater ticket or subscription card can be used for arrival and departure with the RVV buses. This not only makes the journey easier but also more manageable, as visitors can combine the event with public transport. Especially for a venue like the Antoniushaus, which is located on the edge of the center, this information is useful because it lowers the threshold: You do not necessarily have to come by car. This is a real advantage in a city like Regensburg, where the city center can quickly become congested. When summarizing these facts from a visitor's perspective, it becomes clear why search queries like Theater in the Antoniushaus Regensburg, Theater in the Antoniushaus parking, and Theater in the Antoniushaus directions are so dominant: They reflect the desire to plan a theater evening stress-free while also choosing the right arrival strategy. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/orte/index.html))

Seating Plan, Seats, and Capacity in the Antoniushaus

The Antoniushaus is intentionally manageable as a theater space but not small: It accommodates up to 420 spectators. This number is central for SEO and practical orientation because it places the venue in the size range between an intimate venue and a large stage. The newly renovated theater space features parquet and a gallery, which shapes not only the seating structure but also the sightlines in the hall. Those searching for seating plan, seats, or best seats often want to know whether the space feels flat, steep, narrow, or spacious. The official description makes it clear that the venue focuses on sight and proximity without sacrificing a clear hall structure. Additionally, the Theater Regensburg website offers a price overview based on specific seating for booking. This means that the seating plan is not only visually relevant but also a purchasing decision factor. Those who prefer a specific viewpoint or row can orient themselves in advance and consider the price group directly. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/orte/index.html))

For the question of the best seats, this is important because the venue offers a mix of proximity to the stage and good visibility over the gallery. In a theater with 420 seats, the distance between the stage and the audience is generally less than in larger venues, which enhances the perception of language, gesture, and facial expressions. This has a positive effect, especially in plays and matinees, as dialogues and acting nuances come to the fore more strongly. The seating plan booking of the Theater Regensburg supports this choice by displaying the price according to the seat. This makes the seating plan a real tool for visitors, not just a graphical representation. Those searching for Theater in the Antoniushaus seating plan or Theater in the Antoniushaus seats often want exactly this combination of overview and decision support. The venue meets this expectation by combining the technical option for seat selection with a clear pricing logic. Additionally, it should be noted that the surrounding area of the venue with gastronomy and a beer garden enhances the pre- and post-show experience. Thus, the pure seat becomes part of a larger theater experience. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/orte/index.html))

Accessibility is particularly relevant in connection with the seats. The Theater Regensburg states that the Antoniushaus has barrier-free access via the main entrance at Mühlweg 13, an elevator to the gallery, two disabled parking spaces in the courtyard, as well as one wheelchair space in the parquet on the left in rows 2 and 3. Additionally, there is a restroom with assistance in the cloakroom foyer and an inductive hearing system. This information is important not only for people with disabilities but also for relatives, groups, and organizations planning a visit long-term. The seating plan is thus more than a comfort issue; it is an access and participation issue. Especially because the Antoniushaus presents itself as a historical and simultaneously modernized venue, it is important that the use is practically solved for different guest groups. Those who inform themselves in advance can select their seat appropriately and prepare for the visit smoothly. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/seiten/barrierefreiheit.html))

History, Architecture, and Features of the Antoniushaus

The history of the Antoniushaus is one of the reasons why the place has so much charm. The building was constructed in 1953/54 as a deliberately asymmetrically designed reinforced concrete skeleton structure. Originally, it served as a community center for the adjacent Catholic parish church of St. Anton. Only since 2022 has the house been used for the purposes of the city theater. This temporal shift is culturally and historically interesting because it transforms a post-war building with religious and social origins into a contemporary performance venue. The result is not an anonymous new building but a space with a recognizable history that remains visible in today's theater operations. For search queries like Theater in the Antoniushaus Regensburg or Antonius Theater, this historical background is often implied, even if it is not always explicitly stated. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/produktionen/index-34.html))

Particularly striking are the architectural and artistic details mentioned in the official theater description. These include the sacramental tiles on the east facade by Walter Zacharias, the large hall with its wave-shaped ceiling, and the original wall paintings with a long-overpainted and now visible mural by Josef Rüth. This mural references St. Anthony of Padua with fish and birds. Such elements make the Antoniushaus not only a stage but also a place where the origin of the building is still palpable. Those searching for photos or special impressions in Regensburg are often particularly interested in such details because they give the venue a distinctive character. The interplay of sacred memory, post-war architecture, and theater use creates an atmosphere that is rarely so clearly present in modern cultural buildings. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/produktionen/index-34.html))

The official venue description adds to this impression with contemporary use: The theater space is newly renovated, offers parquet and a gallery, and is operated as the second major venue of the Theater Regensburg. Together with the gastronomy and the attached beer garden, a place is created that works not only functionally but also atmospherically. This combination is particularly important for users because it explains why the Antoniushaus is so frequently associated with photos, reviews, and impressions in search results. People are not only looking for dry facts but for the feeling that a place conveys. The Antoniushaus provides a clear answer here: It is a historically charged building that has been gently modernized while still retaining its character. The wave-shaped ceiling, the facade art, and the proximity to St. Anton Church tell a story that extends the theater evening beyond the pure content of the piece. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/orte/index.html))

Tickets, Prices, and Barrier-Free Visit

When it comes to tickets, it is worth taking a close look at the official visiting logic of the Theater Regensburg. Tickets can be purchased around the clock in the online shop, as well as at the theater box office at Bismarckplatz, by phone, and at the tourist information in the Old Town Hall. The public sale begins on the first working day of each month for the entire month after next. So, those who plan early often get the best selection. This is important for many visitors because performances at the Antoniushaus can appear both regularly and as a premiere, matinee, or special date. The performance offering is thus dynamic, but the ticket pathways are clearly regulated. The box office at the respective venue is usually open one hour before the performance begins, which is very helpful for spontaneous visitors. Thus, the search term Theater in the Antoniushaus Tickets becomes a concrete course of action. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/index/besuch.html))

In terms of pricing, the Theater Regensburg works with product-dependent ticket prices and seating groups. The schedule shows the cheapest and most expensive ticket price for a performance, and in the seating plan booking, the specific price per seat is additionally displayed. For online or phone-booked tickets, a pre-sale fee of 1.50 euros per ticket applies; this fee is waived when purchasing at the box office or at the evening box office. This is practical because it makes the decision between digital and personal booking transparent. For visitors searching for seating plan, prices, and tickets, this is an important part of the planning. Especially in the Antoniushaus, where the number of seats is manageable, the choice of seat can be decisive. Those who book early have a better chance of getting their preferred row or desired view of the stage. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/index/besuch.html))

Accessibility is not just an addition but a real quality feature. The venue is accessible without stairs via the main entrance at Mühlweg 13, the gallery is accessible by elevator, and the wheelchair spaces are clearly marked. Additionally, there are two disabled parking spaces in the courtyard and a restroom with assistance. For hearing-impaired guests, the inductive hearing system in the Antoniushaus is a significant advantage. The Theater Regensburg also emphasizes that all venues have barrier-free access and wheelchair spaces. This clear communication is important because it builds trust and facilitates planning. Those searching for Theater in the Antoniushaus reviews often think of user-friendliness, and this is where the venue excels with its transparent accessibility. Additionally, the theater ticket or subscription card can also be used for arrival and departure with the RVV buses. This makes the visit not only culturally enjoyable but also organizationally pleasant. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/seiten/barrierefreiheit.html))

Photos, Reviews, and Practical Tips Before the Visit

The search term photos is no coincidence at the Antoniushaus, as the venue strongly lives off its visual character. On the official pages of the Theater Regensburg, there is image material and production photos documenting the hall, facade, entrance area, and respective productions. Those wanting to orient themselves before the visit should therefore look not only for the piece title but also for the official venue and production pages. There, it becomes clear how the venue looks visually and what atmosphere awaits. Especially at a historical place like the Antoniushaus, this is helpful because architecture and theater operations visibly intertwine here. In practice, this means: Photos are not just decoration but a real decision-making aid for the visit. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/orte/index.html))

Reviews also play a role in the decision to visit. The provided rating data indicates 4.5 stars from 97 reviews, suggesting a strong and overall positive perception of the place. Such values are often associated with factors like atmosphere, organization, seating comfort, accessibility, and gastronomy. In the case of the Antoniushaus, the official capacity of 420 seats, the renovated stage with parquet and gallery, the close proximity to the city center, and the gastronomy with a beer garden contribute to a well-rounded overall picture. Especially because the venue is not huge but rather offers proximity and overview, it suits visitors who appreciate theater not as a mass event but as an immediate experience. So, those searching for Theater in the Antoniushaus reviews are usually looking for a sense of quality and atmosphere. The objective facts provide a solid foundation for this, and the audience's reactions confirm this tendency. ([theaterregensburg.de](https://www.theaterregensburg.de/orte/index.html))

Practical tips arise almost automatically from the combination of available information: Those wanting to arrive relaxed should use the RVV or walk from the main train station; those driving should plan for the free parking at the vocational school or the underground garage at the theater; those with some time before or after can use the gastronomy with a beer garden. Especially for evening performances, it is advisable to arrive a bit earlier because the venue itself is already part of the experience. The Antoniushaus is not just an address but a cultural space with history, modern use, and clear visitor pathways. This explains why the search intentions around photos, reviews, parking, seating plan, and upcoming events complement each other so strongly. In the end, it is not about just any theater in Regensburg, but about a specific place where one arrives well, sits well, and experiences a piece of history at the same time.

The play was very beautiful. I wouldn't buy the seats in the gallery row 2, 10 to 14 again. In seat 13, I had a black pole in front of me, which was constantly in my line of sight. (The photo is from seat 14) Especially for the kids, despite the booster seat, it was difficult, even in the back rows. That's why they were still bouncing around. The climate was okay, could possibly be optimized. Huge praise to all the performers 💕 they definitely deserve 5 stars and more 😊
